Opening on Mother’s Day, 10 May, I’m a Mum?! is a new solo exhibition by Red Hong Yi, examining motherhood through the lens of her recent lived experience.
The exhibition brings together works developed from pregnancy through the immediate postpartum period. At its core is a series of 30 embroidered pieces, created during the artist’s confinement period. Additional works include an installation reflecting the experience of confinement, body imprints documenting pregnancy, and pieces incorporating elements from a child’s high chair.
I’m a Mum?! rejects the sanitised image of motherhood, exposing its physical, emotional, and invisible labour. At the same time, it stands as a celebration of the artist’s resilience and commitment to her practice.
The exhibition is open to the public and free of charge.
